Sierra Nevada Mountains, California
On planning another hike to the top of Mt. Whitney, I
realized the pain from the last time I walked up there had
finally subsided. That was in 1993. I wasn't in shape for
it, but made it nonetheless. Being partial to the Owens
Valley and the Eastern Sierra, some of my favorite entry
points, south to north, are Cottonwood Lakes for the Golden
Trout Wilderness, Onion Valley and Rock Creek for the John
Muir Wilderness, and Mammoth Lakes for the Ansel Adams
Wilderness. Out of Mammoth Lakes basin, there are many
enjoyable hikes to be had. A little further north, I've
hiked some in the Hoover Wilderness. To the right you'll
find links to journals I kept on some of these hikes.
