Cascades, Oregon and Washington
At one time I owned some property in
southern Oregon and visited it on a regular basis. This
gave me an opportunity to hike some in the Cascades in this
part of the state. Having friends in Portland, I've hiked a
bit in that region also, as well as southern Washington and
beyond. I've hiked around and into Mt. St. Helens in
Washington, Mt. Hood out of Portland, and some trails along
the Columbia river. These mountains are very different from
the Sierra's in California, in some cases downright lush
from all the moisture. On some hikes, I've find the
solitude a welcome relief from the more populated Sierra's
in California.
